The observance of precepts brought about by the Buddha allows us to form a connection with the Buddha.
Such a connection is formed when a master asks: Can you observe this precept? and you answer Yes! The more items you can observe, the closer you are to the Buddha. The more precepts we observe, the greater and more comprehensive the blessing we can receive from the Buddha.
Therefore, the observance of one of the Five Precepts is inferior to an observation of all five; the observance of the Five Precepts is inferior to an observation of the Bodhisattvas Precepts.
受佛的戒就是跟佛接轨，问能持否？ 答 能持。 那就跟佛接轨了， 一条一条来接轨。从智慧上来说破一分无明证一分法身，从戒上来说多受一分戒，多得一分佛的加持，受得越多方位， 越得多方位加持，越周密。所以就说受一条戒不如受五条戒，受五戒不如受菩萨戒。
